Cultural Recommendation (34)
Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 9:30AM The following performance is from 2002 and comes from the concert held in honor of George Harrison shortly after his death. His good friend Eric Clapton arranged the concert and it included many of the greatest players in rock music history. No Madonna's in this bunch, just great musicians.
As an aside, the all-star band rehearsed for three weeks before playing the concert because Clapton insisted it be done to the highest standard in honor of Harrison. What resulted was the prize DVD in my music collection. Following is a great tune from that set called Isn't It A Pity. It is led by Billy Preston on organ and vocals and Eric Clapton on lead guitar and vocals. It is one of the best performances I have ever posted.

Awesome! Great post.
Pundit that rocks, had to add this one to my library..Eric has done this tune with a lot of
different groups, but i feel this is the best ever....
Had to drop my old shade tree computer down to 260p before i could get it to play right.
must be time for some updating, dontcha know...
Thanks Pundit, always enjoy...
Pundit: I really miss Billy Preston. This, and his performance on Clapton's "One More Car, One More Rider" concert are among the best.
Thanks for recommending the "Concert for George" album earlier. It is a dandy!
I knew you'd like it Bruce. It's just an amazing performance. The fact they rehearsed for three weeks before playing sets it apart from any all-star concert ever done. By the way, if you go back to one of my earlier Cultural Recommendations by Doyle Bramhall, you'll find Billy Preston inauspiciously playing organ on that song.
