The year I spent with Patrol Force Southwest Asia really changed how I viewed Islam. I try to explain the religion/ideology distinction to people and rarely have success. The day is coming when a brutal showdown between American values and "diversity" run smack dab into religious fascism. I trust we Americans will make the right, and difficult, choices.

Matt Morin: Sorry Lisa, I'm going to have to de-friend you for this one. A religion didn't attack us in September 11th. Extremists did. Would you support banning a Christian church in Oklahoma City because an extremist Christian attacked us?
America was built on religious freedom. If we start banning mosques then the terrorists really have won. The mosque that's moving is getting kicked out of its space just a few blocks away - where it's been for years.
"Stealth jihad"? It's this kind of ridiculous, religious bigotry that destroys out country. That date should be perfect opportunity for us to shout to the world the ideals this country was founded on - to prove once and for all that we don't compromise our values for fear.
SIGH.... Hello - McVeigh stated he was an agnostic and that his religion was science. Where do people come up with this nonsense? Anyway - if any of you read this far just know how glad I am there are still some pockets of sanity left in the world - San Francisco Bay Area is heavily devoid of much.
Sounds like you're better off without that one Lisa. From his comment it is clear that common sense and reason do not reside in him.
Liberty: Ask your former friend if a religion that practices human sacrifice is protected by the Constitution? Somewhere, sometime, commonsense must prevail!!
@ Liberty2010. Some people just don't listen. I would think that these are the same people who voted for Obama.
Thanks all and yes this is the idiocy that got us into the trouble we are in now as a country.
Hopefully people will learn - but as always it seems like the only way is through painful experiences.
Teaching our children that everything is shades of gray, that everyone is a winner, that people who do wrong don't mean it and so forth has created generation after generation of people who cannot distinguish the true from the false, people who don't get what a great country we have been and why.
