Cultural Recommendation (26)
Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 8:00AM I was never a huge Doors fan growing up, but this is one song that I've come across recently that I felt was just outstanding. It's called Tell All The People and it shows the band at their height during a Canadian television special in 1969. Whether you're a fan or not, give this song a shot.

Good choice, Pundit. This is a cut that I wasn't at all familar with. Listening to Jim Morrison certainly brings back memories of the 60's.
I think he and Robert Plant had by far the best voices of the era. Fortunately, Robert is still around and somehow dodged getting killed by the drugs.
wow!! as most good artists go, i didn't appreciate jimmy, ray and the gang as much until after he died. makes ya wonder why a guy so talented had to go so early. why coudn't he guy just be normal, cut his hair, shave and brush his teeth like most other civilized people. many have overcome their demons and proceded to be very good at what they do. my initial conclusion is that his artistic style was in and of itself fatalistic. he could not live/perform any other way. in order for his talents to be realized, it took him down the road of self-implosion-very very unfortunate. either way, we are fortunate to have been able to enjoy his works for a little while-thanks pundit for the nostalgic moment!!
This is great stuff Pundit. Absolutely fantastic.
Good piece Pundit...I've spent most of the day listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival
and behind the scenes music of Elvis, the old stuff and off the cuff perals he did.. If you
search hard and long you can find jewels he recorded and are great listening....
Music is absolute and medication for the heart and soul..( Dawg ).
wyz gy touched on something that will probably never be fully understood, and that is the connection between ultra artist and self destruction. Go back as far as you like, Stephen Foster, Hank Williams, Elvis and all the 60's drug users. Sometimes I think there is mental flaw that makes too sensitive a connection with sadness and melancholia which causes both. Yeah, go ahead, give me hell. Physchiatric help...5 cents.
BTW, I really like The Doors. I learned from Rush to seperate the art from the artist.
HB you might be on to something, but there has always been something about Elvis and
the 50s and 60s soft rock that gets my attention and i've never ever smoked weed...
When it comes to beautiful music you will find at least one or more things to associate
that with in one's lifetime and that is part of the beauty of music and songs....
I would hate to think i might have to go through the rest of my lifetime without music....
