Joe Scarborough Sold Out

Watch Joe "I'm a Conservative" Scarborough suggest Republicans are "genuinely stupid" for criticizing Obama's response to the oil spill. This guy criticizes Republicans as much as any member of the press.

Scarborough is suffering from Stockholm syndrome, meaning he sympathyzes with the leftist fascists who kidnapped him at MSNBC. Obama responded slow and only when criticism became too heated. The governors down there, who really know what's going on, have been near unanimous in their criticism. The disaster plan that was developed years ago wasn't followed (a la New Orleans/Katrina). There's no strategy to contain the spill and avoid damage from oil slicks hitting land, there have been numerous opportunities to engage more booms, ships and other resources. The requests from Alabama and Louisiana to build barriers out to sea to protect shoreline haven't been approved after 45 days. The few trips Obama has made are drive bys and made it obvious he views this as a nuidance rather than a responsibility. What's not to like Joe?

I can smell the cognitive dissonance from here: despite being rated #1, Fox News is not mainstream media...nope, only the other, less-watched channels are mainstream. Wait, one of our biggest stars on Fox broke with the company line? He's brainwashed! Just like that time Shep Smith couldn't bear to spew more junk and briefly went off script on the issue of torture.

Obama has messed up a lot of legitimate things for you to call him out on. Why pretend he is personally responsible for the oil spill?

Poor Faux Heads, Obama is personally responsible for managing the response to the clean up, not the spill itself. He is the President and the buck stops with him - just as it did with Bush during Katrina.

I'll give you a specific example of where he has failed miserably. There are literally hundreds of foreign owned skimmer boats that can't be utilized in the Gulf because of a 1920's maritime law that prevents it? George Bush temporarily halted that law for the Katrina response. We're now 60 days into this mess and that law is still active and keeping skimmer boats from cleaning up oil in the Gulf. I'd say that is a massive oversight of leadership. Do you not concur?

Hey PFH, Scarborough is on your network......MSNBC not Fox. I never said Obama was personally responsible and you didn't refute one of my points. Where'd you get your education.....Harvard?

Ha ha, that is a pretty big blooper on my part. My bad. I thought he was on Fox News. I don't regularly watch either network. So, I take it Joe Scarborough is supposed to be the "conservative" one on MSNBC? (since we do like to choose our news sources like our sports teams)

To your point, Chuck, maybe those skimmer boats would help and, if they would, they should be used. I also saw a report saying the area was dangerously crowded now. Is that's true, then they might not help. When Katrina hit, FEMA made mistake after mistake, but I wasn't agreeing with the Kanye Wests of the world who said it was worse because "George Bush doesn't like black people." Unfortunately, both situations are a "genie out the bottle" scenario. The emerging story of BP's record is shameful for both administrations -- just as the levees in NO were supposedly not up to snuff and this sh*t in the fan on W's watch, so is the buck stopping with Obama now. I'm just not that into convenient narratives.

It's amazing how much power GWB has/had. Think about it. He's only in office about 8-9 months when 9/11 happens - his fault. People in New Orleans ignored warning after warning then had their hands out and were blaming Bush for everything - all his fault. The man's been out of office for over a year when a oil rig explodes killing 11 people and causing mass damage to the enviroment - still GWB's fault despite the absentee joke in the white having been in the office FOR OVER A YEAR. I'm suprised we haven't seen reports about GWB walking on water.

FEMA screwed up during Katrina and everyone tried to crucify Bush. Obama has done one damn thing about BP and making them shut the leak down and it's being ignored by all. The media is suppose to be fair and unbiased. Why don't they have big mouth up on a cross too?

I actually agree with you sideburns. The media sources I consult would probably be considered nut-job communists by Reagan Republicans, but Glenn Greenwald over on Salon.com wrote: "The same factions rule Washington no matter which of the two parties control the various branches of government (see this excellent new article from Rolling Stone's Tim Dickinson on the Obama administration's role in the BP oil spill, and specifically how virtually nothing changed in the oil-industry-controlled Interior Department once Ken Salazar took over [as was quite predictable and predicted]; Interior employees even refer to it as "the third Bush term")."

Fact is Salazar was appointed by Obama. With how slow government works, maybe they didn't get around to making the required changes, but that is no excuse. Maybe they never thought anything like this could happen and they were happy to keep taking BP's money and the perks. I disagree with anyone claiming this spill should be laid at Bush's feet.

(and no, I don't agree with Greenwald even 50% of the time, but I think he's got a point on this one)

I do think that leftie Democrats are more likely to break ranks with their so-called leaders than Republicans. I base that on nothing more than anecdotal evidence, but as long as Sarah Palin remains a hero -- and one of the most prominent voices on the right, I could never return to the fold.

hard to believe my first vote was for W's father all those years ago.

Poor Faux Heads,
