In a nutshell, this is what I think the Obama administration thinks about corruption and their relationship to the press. "We can lie and mislead all we want because we know the media will not rat us out in any significant way. They want us to be successful as much as we do and they won't do anything to derail that." I've certainly never seen proof that they would do anything to harm a sitting liberal President. Heck, Drudge nailed Clinton on Lewinsky, not the MSM.

This is not going away. The press did a very good job early on demonizing anyone who even mentioned the birthplace issue. Being called a "birther" was akin to being called a bigot, so they effectively shut down all questions about the issue. That line of attack by the press may have lost its effectiveness.
Anyone notice that Gibbs didn't answer the question, but went straight to the birth certificate?
Gibbs asks, "Do you believe that the President was born in the United States?". Maybe he was or maybe he wasn't. The question is "Why does he have a CT social security number?".

I didn't see hemming and hawing, just more of Glibs behaving in that mocking, sarcastic way that he and rest of the libturds behave. In fact, from the moment the words "social security number" were spoken, most of the reporters started snickering and sharing smug looks with one another.
If he really wanted to make lardass Glibs stutter and stammer, he should have asked something like, "Do you know why, when Oilbama rented his IL office space he put social security number ###-##-####, not the ###-##-#### number that he listed on the credit app for his rental apartment in (year), or the ###-##-#### number that he used when applying for a (home or auto) loan in (year)?" Now that type of question - one in which the places Oilbama's called home aren't in question, only why he's committed the felony of using more than one social security number - would leave Glibs standing there with his chin on the floor and his mouth a perfect O.
Well said Auntie. I don't think this issue is going away. You can run from the birth certificate, but the Social Security number is a entirely different issue.

The White House has done an amazing job at labeling anyone who has serious concerns about the legality of our president a nut job conspiracy theorist. Call the person a derogatory name and end the discussion. It is the Democratic way!
