Remember during the capaign Obama was asked why he would support higher capital gains taxes when it would result in declining tax revenues. He said it was a matter of "fairness". He doesn't care about our country's fiscal soundness, which means he doesn't care about the country or the people. First and foremost he wants to spread his idealogy and consolidate power for his fellow far left extremists.

Well said Herb. Not funny, but well said.

Consolidation of power occurs by sapping wealth from the populace. As Herb said, these clowns don't care about the economy. If they did, they wouldn't have implemented the idiotic policies they have to "jump start" the economy. I think in the mind of a leftist, the poorer we are as a nation, the more they will be needed.

Taxbagger, you nailed the essence of the left. Democrats since the 1930's have been buying votes with tax money. Franklin Roosevelt knew that they only way for him to win in 1936 and again in 1940 was to keep people dependent on the federal government. They knew that what they were doing was not solving the economic problems. Secretary Morganthau admitted in 1939 that they had no effect. Lyndon Johnson in the 60's also knew that expanding the welfare state was not good for the country. He was trying to build up his political base that was crumbling under the Vietnam War.

The purpose was not, has never been, and never will be, to make the country better. The purpose is to stay in power, by any means necessary.
