CBS Poll Shows Majority Of Americans Support Arizona Law

Even after weeks of misleading press coverage, the American public still supports the Arizona Immigration Bill by a wide margin. In fact, a full 60% say the bill is just right or doesn't go far enough. This from Townhall:

A poll conducted by the New York Times and CBS found that 51 percent of Americans supported Arizona's immigration law. Thirty-six percent said the law went too far and 9 percent said it did not go far enough. 

According to the same poll, 78 percent of Americans thought that the federal government should be doing more to protect our borders.

Naturally, the New York TImes advertised the "slim margin" by which Americans favor the law. Check out their lede:

The overwhelming majority of Americans think the country’s immigration policies need to be seriously overhauled. And despite protests against Arizona’s stringent new immigration enforcement law, a majority of Americans support it, even though they say it may lead to racial profiling.

The key portion of that post is, "after weeks of misleading press coverage". The fact that the American public still supports the bill at virtually the same level they initially did speaks to the diminishing sway of the media in this country. It appears the full-scale assault on Arizona is a loser for the commies.

You've got to love it don't you. There usual tactics have less and less impact and they have really pounded this issue hard. Looks like the public is really wising up to the biased media. They weren't able to move the needle on health care either. Maybe there is hope.

I hope everyone is correct regarding the diminishing impact of the MSM.

I also enjoyed a posts at other sites which contrasted the rapid delivery of sanctions against Arizona with our inability to enact sanctions against Iran. Lets's see ... which is worse; a state that is taking action to enforce laws that the Federal Government seems incapable of enforcing, or a nuclear Iran. How ironic!
