Liberal Idiot Of The Week

Hillary Clinton - Secretary of State

Hillary Clinton has done a very good job of keeping herself out of harms way during the first 16 months of the disastrous Obama administration. She has accomplished this feat by keeping her sizable mouth shut.

However, this week proved to be an exception to that new rule. In a Thursday afternoon discussion at the liberal Brookings Institution, she said, “The rich are not paying their fair share in any nation that is facing the kind of employment issues’’ that confront the United States and other nations, “whether it is individual, corporate, whatever the taxation forms are.”

She then went on to say that you need look no further than Brazil for proof that high taxes and a strong economy aren't mutually exclusive. “Brazil has the highest tax-to-G.D.P. rate in the Western hemisphere. And guess what? It’s growing like crazy. The rich are getting richer, but they are pulling people out of poverty. There is a certain formula there that used to work for us until we abandoned it — to our regret, in my opinion. My view is that you have to get many countries to increase their public revenues.”

Comparing the economies of Brazil and the United States is like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford Pinto. It's asinine. Yet off she goes suggesting we need to raise taxes on the rich because Brazil, until fairly recently considered a third world country, has done it.

Actually, they do a lot of things well in Brazil. Soccer, oil, beaches, savages who disfigure themselves (see photo). All that said, I'm not sure we want to be looking to Brazil for our economic policy. Let's just say their track record sucks, not unlike that of liberal Democrats.

For this and many other reasons, Hillary Clinton is the FL Pundt LIOTW.

Worthy choice, though once again you could have gone with Obama.

Totally agree. Anyone calling for higher taxes is a liberal idiot in my book. Good call Pundit.

The zebra stripe woman is thinking,"I told you I could get the lid off that jar of peanut butter.

Hillary is thinking,"See Monica, I could have kept Bill home if I had wanted too.

Without question, H.R. Clinton is an Economics dunce, unless you count being able to perfectly time a cattle futures investment. Recently she has been keeping a low profile, but the ideas she spouted off on at the Brookings Inst. speech remind us that she's one of the "I know better than you what's good for you" voters are rejecting at an increasing rate of late. At best she's a retread of an economy tire that you use only because you're driving the car to the crusher at the scrapyard. Adopting her approach will do nothing but create dependancy on the government and strangle economic growth. Serious people knowledgable about history reject her suggestions for prosperity. Only an Idealogue would promote such failed ideas that wrest liberty from individuals and enshrine authoritarian decision making in an all-powerful federal bureaurcacy. Obviously, she plans on being one of the decision makers for you and me. The frustrating part is that those who vote for politicians that think this way really believe that the politicians care. What those folks don't realize is that the politicians care alright, but only about themselves, their power and their influence.
p.s. - To FL Pundit: neither one of the people in the photo has ever lived in Brazil. If I were a betting man, I'd say one is a native of Africa and the other a native of North America.
