Cultural Recommendation (20)

I thought quite a lot about what to recommend this week, but kept coming back to the recent death of a music icon. Ronnie James Dio, lead singer of Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio, died last week at age 67 due to complications from stomach cancer. He had one of the strongest voices in the annals of rock music and was universally regarded as a great guy. The following clip (Children of the Sea) is from his last tour at age 65. The concert was filmed at Radio City Music Hall and offers a great representation of his voice. The band surrounding him isn't bad either!

Thanks for recognizing Dio. The guy was one of the best who ever held a mike and we'll be greatly missed. Just look at how he interacted with the crowd at the end of that song - they loved him and vice versa. Super choice.

Ronnie James Dio had one of the best voices in Rock & Roll. The performance you chose from the Black Sabbath album, Heaven and Hell, still gives me goose bumbs when I listen! One of my favorite albums! RIP "Long live Rock & Roll"! AND the memory of R.J.D

Great call on this one Pundit. RJD is the man. May he rest in peace.

It appears that the disgusting Westboro Baptist terrorists want to protest RJD's memorial service. Why isn't this getting picked up anywhere else?
