Breaking: Elena Kagan to Receive SCOTUS Nomination

This from Politico:

NBC News is reporting that Elena Kagan is to receive President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nomination to replace the retiring Associate Justice John Paul Stevens.

As Jillian noted,
Neither conservatives nor liberals are too happy about that. Why? Liberals complain that she hasn't written that many opinions, or worked in a court of law, so they aren't particularly confident in her progressive credentials.
From earlier reports on the prospect of Elena Kagan receiving Obama's nomination,
Kagan [is] the first woman to serve as solicitor general. Thurgood Marshall is the most recent of several justices who served in that role before joining the Supreme Court.

Kagan, who has never been a judge, has made a half-dozen arguments in front of the justices in the past year.

As the first woman dean of the Harvard Law School, Kagan won a reputation for hiring prominent conservative legal scholars and bridging disagreements between liberal and conservative faculty members.

Yet 31 Republican senators voted against her confirmation as Solicitor General last year in what was seen as a warning to Obama should he want to put her on the Supreme Court.

Kagan would likely face questions over her objections to campus military recruiters at Harvard, stemming from her disagreement with U.S. policy on gays serving in the military.

Now I see what they mean by " putting the OINK in PIG." She must be recommended
highly by Bath-house Barney for the job and President Ostupid well be falling all over
himself if he gets this pickup to the SCOTUS...Instead of "don't ask, don't tell" in the
military we well have it in the Supreme court... Thank you Boy Barry for your moral
values that will bring America to her knees....

From what I've heard about the other potential nominees, she is probably the least offensive of the bunch.
