Have I Got This Right?

Let me see if I've got this right...

  • If you cross the North Korean border illegally you get 12 years of hard labor
  • If you cross the Iranian border illegally you detained indefinitely
  • If you cross the Afghan border illegally you get shot
  • If you cross the Saudi Arabian border illegally you will be jailed
  • If you cross the Chinese border illegally you may never be heard from again
  • If you cross the Venezuelan border illegally you will be branded a spy and your fate sealed
  • If you cross the Cuban border illegally you will be thrown into political prison to rot
  • If you cross the United States border illegally you get...

             1 - A Job
             2 - A Drivers License
             3 - Social Security Card
             4 - Welfare
             5 - Food Stamps
             6 - Credit Card
7 - Subsidized rent to by a house or rent an apartment
             8 - Free Education
             9 - Free Health Care
           10 - A Lobbyist in Washington, DC
11 - Public documents printed in your own language
12 - The right to carry your home country's flag while you protest the U.S.

Yeah, I think I got that right. Just wanted to make sure I had a complete understanding of the situation.

Thanks to Judd for passing this along.

That's a great post. That really does boil it down in all its absurdity. Thank you Democrats and weak-kneed Republicans for making this nightmare a reality.

We are idiots to have allowed this. How fat, dumb and happy do you have to get to allow a bunch of scumbag politicians to change our laws and provide for these types of benefits. This is nothing short of criminal.

You're right Monte. We're all a bunch of idiots.

How could any politician that played a part in making these policies not feel like a fool? Granted, the vast majority of them were Democrats, but there were more than a few Republicans helping as well.

Yes to all, but one thing we don't seem to grasp...All these Politicians feel they are
out of reach from the people and we don't have any right to criticize whatever they
want to do.. How dare anyone think they can take care of themselves and know what
is good for each, without Big Daddy Barack and his cronies looking over our shoulders....

So our goal is to be like North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudia Arabia, Venezuela and Cuba? Awesome role models. Let's start killing journalists, arresting political rivals, having mass disappearances, etc. I love how conservatives use North Korea, Cuba and Chine to scare Americans into thinking we're turning into Communists and then turn around and uphold them as shining lights of immigration laws.

Plenty of people who come into the US illegally are put in jail/deported/or otherwise punished.

Amber, I see your point by the nations sited, but the larger issue is that our border is much too porous. You're right, there are arrests, but for every arrest, a large number of illegals get through. Not only is this a serious national security issue, it is putting the country in further financial peril due to the many illegals on social programs. What sensible country allows this? I hold no ill will toward these people, but I am also realistic enough to understand this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed in serious manner.

So Chuck, you choose to address this serious issue in a serious manner by passing around a barely coherent chain letter that seems to suggest that the US adopt the policies of totalitarian dictatorships while being blatantly racist. Providing documents in other languages is a bad thing? This is the United States of America; put your xenophobia away.

The conservative stance on "the larger issue" will never be taken seriously until you shed the pettiness and racism that plagues your base.

Hey Jason, keep throwing the word racist around. You Lefties have used it so much that you actually lose independent support every time you utter it. You guys are nothing but useful idiots for the socialist machine trying to enslave this country.

August 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterChuck (FL Pundit)

Way to not actually address the racism in the list. Perhaps it is more accurate to call it xenophobia, but, then again, I used that word too and you didn't address it, either.

Either you see it too, and are too proud to admit it, or you can't see it because you live your life submerged in it.

I have no problem with real conservatives, and consider myself a moderate. The problem is, underthought rubbish such as this chain letter tarnishes the reputations of the true, sensible conservatives.

Then again, maybe this isn't the place to find those.

August 18, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJason

Well, I'll give you this much. It's the first and only chain letter that I have posted in more than 1,000 posts. In short, I avoid them, but liked the comparisons this one drew.

That being said, in no way do I see this post associated with xenophobia. From my perspective, it is about the stupidity of our elected officials who have allowed our border to become porous beyond all belief.

Unfortunately, liberals (and some moderates) want to paint everything in racist or xenophobic terms. That is not how I, or the vast majority of conservatives that I know, see things. You have to consider intent when making that type of charge and you can't know my intent.

Quite frankly, I'd vote for a black or hispanic Constitutional Conservative over a white moderate or liberal any day of the week. Furthermore, if I had to choose between two Constitutional Conservatives (one minority and one white), skin color would not enter into my decision in anyway. I know my conservative friends feel exactly the same way. Anyone conservative that would disagree with that statement is not someone I would want to be associated with.
