Cultural Recommendation (12)
Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:16AM The following video is from the CMT Series Crossroads. It's Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame and Alison Krauss singing an old bluegrass tune called Please Read The Letter. It's not what you think - they change it up with a bluesy-rock vibe. I think it's outstanding and really showcases two great singers.

Excellent selection!
I have the CD (Raising Sand) and watched this Crossroads episode with much interest. Much credit goes to the producer: T Bone Burnett.
No doubt about that Bruce. He just won an Grammy for something as well. I thought the entire project was just great.
Several good songs on the Raising Sand CD. Alison Krauss is one sexy woman and Robert Plant is ..umm..ahh...one talented man.
Little known fact about this CD cover: In that picture on the back, where she is looking back to avoid him seeing her, she is saying," as soon as I can dump this guy, it's gonna be me and you Horsebutt".
Great stuff. Heard about this, but had not seen it. Love it.
I'm amazed that Robert Plant is able to pull that off. The end of the song actually sounds like a Led Zeppelin tune.
Thay also sang sultry a rendition of Zepplin's "Black Dog" in the Crossroads video. It blew me away (as did Horsebutt's comment above)..

Pundit you hit the jackpot on this one....Two great singers and a fantistic song put
together...(Joseph Henry) T. Bone and Jeff Bridges had a big one in Crazy Heart,
just out of this world awesome....Another good soundtrack with Oh Brother where
art thou......
You're right Bruce, I almost posted it. Love the Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn tune they did on Crossroads as well.
I've listened to this three times now and I can't believe how well they harmonize. To Jeff's earlier point, you can definitely hear a little Zeppelin at the end. Very well conceived.
