Our Tax System Is The Worst

What a horrendous system. It's sucking us all down, but especially those of us who still pay taxes.
This year was the first time I was forced to use a tax professional (and I've been filing taxes for 40+ years). Fee was $500 and he saved me about $200 in taxes, but probably 10 to 20 hours of frustration that I would have spent otherwise.
Clearly, we need a better solution. Congress has no clue, and 70,000+ pages of tax code tells the tale.
I'm a supporter of the FairTax solution over the Flat Tax. It has some clear benefits (mainly in reducing the number of entities that actually file taxes with the IRS) and can do much to improve our global competitive advantage.
