Took The Glenn Beck Political Quiz
Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 8:55AM I finally found my way over to Glennbeck.com to take the political quiz that has swept the nation (link below). I actually ended up where Beck said he thought most conservatives would end up - right between conservative and libertarian.
Just took it again. After some thought, I changed two answers that I struggled over the first go round. I believe this is more representative of my actual politics:

This is a very thorough accounting of where you stand on the issues. I wish every American would take it, because I think the number of people identifying themselves as conservative would go up measurably.
Here's the link.

Should be an interesting exercise in self-examination, and would be fun to role play as Pelosi, etc. and check the results.
Keep trying Bruce. It's an interesting exercise and really makes you think about the role of government in your life. I'd love to see what Pelosi, Obama, etc. would produce. I think it's safe to assume they would fall into the Statist category.
Had virtually the same result as you. Took me a while to complete it because you really have to think about the role of government. It's easy to say get government out of my life, but it is necessary for some things such as public safety, national defense, etc. That said, we just need much less of it than we currently have.
Excellent quiz.
I had some of the same "thought exercise" as JoPa. I don't think I have forced myself to to that kind of honest confrontation with my political views before.
Before I took the test, I was sure I would be near the top of the conservative area. I took the test twice. The first time I think I was answering the questions as I saw myself, rather than digging deep into my actual thoughts about each issue individually. So I took the test again.
The first time, I scored about half way up the libertarian area. The second time, I scored about 1/4 way up the libertarian area. So I have to conclude that I probably am a "small l" libertarian.
If anyone wants to compare their answers with mine:
1==a 6==b
2==b 7==c
3==d 8==d
4==a 9==b
5==c 10=b
I know these are opinion answers, but if anyone thinks I should rethink any of the issues, I would appreciate you telling me. I won't argue. (well maybe a little, if a liberal responds)
My biggest struggle was the homosexual marriage.
This is weird - I'm a liberal Democrat, took the quiz and was found to be right of center, smack dab in the middle of conservative. Guess the quiz is bogus.
Why would it be bogus Citizen X? I think most people are more conservative than they think they are. Just my opinion, but I think this test will prove that.
I'm pretty sure the pundit would agree that I'm a liberal Democrat.
I went back and took the Beck test and provided the most left leaning answer possible to every question. I ended up at the tip of the Statist triangle. That means the test works fine and you're not as liberal as you think.
@ citizen x. Maybe you THINK your a Liberal Democrat but COMMON SENSE took over...
HB, I think a lot of people have been hung up on the gay question. I don't believe the last particular option was framed correctly. Instead of "I think it's an abomination", it should have been framed, "I don't believe laws should be passed that allow gay marriage".
The test does leave some things to be desired, especially when your feelings fall somewhere between the 4 multiple choices. Anyway, I ended up pretty much where I thought I would; right on the line between conservative and libertarian.
Based on my own experience, it's a very fine line between where the Pundit finished the first and second time.
