Whatever Happened To The Nuclear Option?
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 9:36AM (FLP Opinion) - Remember back in 2005 when the Democratic minority in the Senate was blocking the up or down vote of ten judicial appointees from the Bush Administration? The vote on their confirmation had been held up for so long that the Republican majority considered using reconciliation as means to confirm them since the majority of Senators supported their confirmation.
At the time, the press did not refer to this as reconciliation. They referred to it in much darker terms, calling it the NUCLEAR OPTION.
That sounds really scary, huh?
Funny thing, but I don't recall hearing or reading anyone in the mainstream media suggesting the Democrat plan to ram through health care via reconciliation as anything but... reconciliation. They must save scary terms like NUCLEAR OPTION for Republicans.
Most Americans are not engaged in the political process enough to have any idea what reconciliation in the Senate is, however, they might perk up a bit if the media started suggesting that Harry Reid was about to use the NUCLEAR OPTION to pass health care in the Senate.
Isn't this just more proof of how ridiculously biased the press is? Benign, under-the-radar terms when Democrats try to pull a fast one; bold, descriptive terms when Republicans attempt the same, but for far more justifiable reasons.

Just another reason to completely despise Democrats. They really and truly have no shame, ethics or morals. A disgusting bunch of traitors.
Even the most senior member of the senate, their own "KKK" Byrd (the "author" reconciliation process), acknowledges that reconciliation should not be used for health care. What a bunch of hypocrites!
That video is absolutely damning. If we had a fair press they'd be reporting on the hypocrisy. Since we don't, the good people of America will be forced to dig for the information.
