CNN Ratings Continue To Drop

In news that has already made my day far better than it was, CNN hit new lows in viewership totals during prime time Friday night (8-11pm) in both Total Viewers and the sponsor coveted A25-54 viewers.
Going up against NBC's Opening Ceremony coverage of the Olympics, CNN averaged just 85,000 A25-54 viewers during Campbell Brown (8 pm), Larry King (9 pm) and Anderson Cooper (10 pm). CNN had not seen numbers that low since May 2001. Almost as bad, the Total Viewer average was just 382,000, the lowest since December 2005.
To be clear, all of the cable news channels saw reduced ratings due to the massive audience that NBC drew for the Opening Ceremonies, however, only CNN saw its audience cut in half from the previous day in both the primary demo and Total Viewers.
Once again, this is the result of the vast majority of Americans determining that you have no credibility as a news organization. Unless you're a true believer, there is simply no point in looking to CNN or MSNBC for legitimate news coverage because all you'll find is biased propaganda.
Will the brass in these companies ever tire of losing money on these dogs?
Doubtful.

I just love to see this. They have earned every last lost viewer.
Will THEY ever learn? I'm certain that THEY won't, but another company who may buy them might. Fox makes money hand over fist. These guys bleed money like a stuck pig. If you're running a legitimate business, how does that work for you?
Just think how bad CNN ratings would be if they didn't have all those monitors in airport depature gates!
That reminded me of a situation I recently encountered. While at the local Children's Hospital during my son's surgery I was in the waiting room. There were multiple TV's, several tuned to childrens cartoons, and several tuned to a local news station. A woman came around and changed all the news channels to CNN. When somebody asked about keeping it on the local channel she snapped back that the only options were the cartoons or CNN. I talked with the person and said, "Well obviously there are other channels available, so I wonder why they've deemed the Communist News Network as our only option?" That person just chuckled. Now that I'm reminded of the event I'm going to write a letter of compaint to the hospital.
My point being: imagine what their ratings would be without the numerous organizations that force the CNN drivel onto other people. It happens at my workplace as well, CNN is always on in the break room. It's not that anybody chooses such a disreputable propaganda outlet, but that we're forced to endure the attempted indoctrination.
Well said Tom and Bruce. I completely concur with your points.
Boo hoo hoo. What about when Larry King can't do it anymore, I think he's the highest rated on CNN. He's close to petrified now, they should add him to 60 minutes to make him feel younger. Anderson Cooper should team up with Rachel Maddow, that would be a ratings boost. Maybe if they bring Ted Turner back to run it? Or maybe if they form a partnership with the New York Times?
