Tihs would be yet another idea from Obama that I could fully support. Just like his idea to have open and public debates on healthcare and broadcast the proceedings on CSPAN. His idea to bring both sides to the table and take the best ideas to form a plan. Like his idea to freeze spending. His idea to put all legislation on the internet for 5 days before voting. His idea for a national high speed rail plan. All ideas I would support.
Trouble is that he's a dirty-dog, dishonest, dastardly, deceitful, double-dealing democrat. He lies ALL the time. He doesn't mean to implement ANY of those ideas. They're all just lip service to fool people.
However, if you educate yourself on this matter, there can be only one conclusion. We should legalize marijuana at the federal level and allow states to take their own position on the issue. Most of what you've been told about marijuana is propaganda. It's not going to cause black men to go crazy and rape white women (the original reason it was deemed harmful in 1939). It's not going to make everybody so lazy that they quit their jobs and sit on the couch all day. It's not going to push people into using heroine the next afternoon. And its not going to give you A.I.D.S.
What is most frightening to me is that my grandmother remembers when it was legal. She remembers growing "Hemp for Victory". In the span of just one generation the government has been able to propagandize the public into complete fear and hate for a plant that's extremely useful. Just one generation is all it takes to twist the public mind and tell them that black is white, and up is down. And now, because it's such a commonly held belief, we all accept that black is white. Up is down. And pot is evil.
Not to mention that we would save billions from trying to stop its flow into the US, save money in the Justice Dept., not clog up our prisons and create jobs by allowing the hippies to open their own farms.
