Democrats Bring Back Immigration Reform

(FLP Opinion) - In an effort to aggravate and alienate even more Americans, Congressional Democrats and the SEIU began a new push today for comprehensive immigration reform.
The path to citizenship would require illegal immigrants to pay a $500 fine, pass a background check and learn English and civics to gain legal status. After six years, they could apply for legal permanent residence, or a green card, which is the interim step to citizenship. There is no "touchback" provision requiring them to return to their home countries at some point in the process.
With unemployment at 10% - more than double what it was the last time immigration reform came up - the push back from conservatives is expected to be fierce.
"With 15 million Americans out of work, it's hard to believe that anyone would give amnesty to 12 million illegal immigrants," said Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee. "Even the open-borders crowd agrees that illegal immigrants take jobs from American workers, particularly poor and disadvantaged citizens and legal immigrants. This is exactly why we need to oppose amnesty."
Democrats are absolutely gluttons for punishment. Is there not any legislation that they could put forth that would be popular with the general public? Health Care, Cap & Trade and now Immigration?
By the time their done, they're going to be looking at losses in the House in the 50 to 70 seat range - well more than Republicans need to take back control.
Stay tuned. This will get very heated.

Look at them go. They have dropped the hammer and are going after everything they can get. They clearly understand this will cost them votes, but think the win is worth it.
I hope they choke on all this crap they are throwing at us. Anyone who doubts what these people really stand for is blind, dumb or stupid. Maybe all three.
The liberals may destroy our nation before the next election.
We need another Reagan to step forward pretty soon.
I think Mike Pence is the guy.
Good call JoPa. I've been touting Mike Pence for six months. He is the man for the job.
You can be just as "human" in Mexico. I just won't have to pay for it!
